Hello everyone!

I decided to start a blog so everyone is able to view my experience as it is happening, not just the people on my e-mail list.

I will be leaving from Albany Airport on September 20th for L.A. I'll get in L.A around 10:30. My registration starts at 2:00 and I will then have an intense 12 hour orientation to the Peace Corps/Vanuatu over the next day and half. I'll be staying at the Sheridan with other Peace Corps Volunteers going to Vanuatu.

At this point I have 12 days till I leave and I am feeling a little anxious, but mostly very excited.

Val, honey: I've known you since you were a little girl, riding on the bus with Vid. I've watched you grow up and mature, seen you when you were serious, silly, funny, nervous, happy, sad and even angry! I'm really proud of the woman you've grown to be. I have all the faith in the world that you will be great! Remember the people at home who love you - there are many of us. And remember all the good times we've had - bonfires, impromptu dinners at "Mom's", parties, Sex & The City marathons, discussions about everything from hair styles to philosophy, beer pong on the kitchen table, squishing people into Vid's teeny car, wild rides home for Thanksgiving from college, and all of the other memories that make up your life. Go on your journey, soak up all the experiences and remember to tell us all about it when you come home. We'll be waiting for you! Be safe, work hard and have FUN! with love always, "Mom" (Alex)
